Exploring the dynamics of protean career orientation, career management behaviors, and subjective career success: An action regulation theory approach

Due to increased dynamics in the world of work and resulting responsibility individuals shape their careers more independently, there is an need focus on individual as active agent development a successful career. Drawing action regulation theory, this four-wave longitudinal study investigates dynamic relations between protean career orientation, engagement self-management behaviors, subjective success over time. Based sample N = 574 German employees, we tested random intercept cross-lagged panel model (RI-CLPM) within-person across four time-points while accounting for stable between-person differences. We found partial support assumed these variables, that increases orientation predicted subsequent behaviors. Moreover, (but not behaviors) further same respective states. However, behaviors did predict or discuss findings light adopting approach understand key constructs.
